No really good recordings exist of this early and short lived incarnation of Dexter's Evil Twin. Running from September 1991 through December 1991, this band had one foot in prog and one foot in punk. A conceptual band. These recordings are raw documents that may be interesting only because of where the musical direction went. Be merciful. These are low quality recordings.

Members were David Robison (synthesizer, bass), Eric Carlson (bass), KC Tull (drums) and a pre-Handiwipe Stacey Spiegel (vocal, guitar). The songs were written by both David and Stacey.

The story was that a flu epidemic was out of control. Military grade flu. Dexter is a man who endures the situation, finally culminating in his death.

David was the competent and seasoned musician with tons of experience. Eric was a young ace who could figure out how to play any musical instrument. KC was exactly what we needed... a drummer on the throne. Then there was Stacey. You were likely to see Stacey out of control drunk, rolling on the floor instead of playing guitar. David and Stacey's imagination was bigger than Stacey's musical ability. A lot of learning was left to do.

We only played a handful of shows around Lancaster, the biggest being performing in front of about 200 people at Antelope Valley College late in 1991.

This first incarnation of the band broke up in late 1991. Dexter's Evil Twin was reformed in 1992 with new members, new sound  and new interpretations of some of the songs as well as new material

It's about to begin The horror can't be stopped This is no normal flu bug or just an aggravated little cough A little something we've been working on for quite a long time It kills 9 out of 9 and makes you deaf, dumb and blind And who are we to question what they do? After all, it's security for the red white and blue

Darkness all around me Darkness in the light Each new dawning brings me Another day to fight Images before me I don't know what they mean I don't know where they came from Could they be things I've seen? I thought that they could fix me with technology that's new New methods and equipment Maybe they'd break through Images before me I don't know what they mean I have but one obsession Outlive my iron dream Images before me I don't know what they mean I have but one obsession Outlive my iron dream

I can't hear a thing, I can't use my eyes At least I've still got my mind I don't care what they say, I'm not gonna die I can't see or hear, it's getting harder to think I've got the symptoms, I've got the disease My iron dream is upon me it seems

In these days of darkness We search for the light Sometimes it doesn't even seem to be worth the fight Where's the love? Where's the hope? Where do we start? Where do we go? I've got some bad news for you my friend ET is dead We have the strength to kill armies and still we fear rats We could destroy ourselves at the drop of a hat It's not a pleasant thing to make you face 'Cause you still see the world as an oasis in space It's hard for me To tell you how I feel It's hard for me to tell you what's real How can I explain What you don't want to hear You've been through so much What's your fear? It's not a question of right or wrong We all need someplace to belong Your world of fantasy keeps you from the truth Are you trying to hold on to your youth?
